Meow, there. That special time is coming when people put up enticing little objects on trees in their houses and pretty paper around boxes. You kitties know what I’m talking about. It’s Catmastime!
Check out my Feature Friday Films to see how cats deal with the holidays in their own creative ways.
Wow, Meow. In the Cobble Cove mystery series, my pet co-star, Fido the golden retriever, is a good pal of mine. In real life, many pets of different species are friends, too. Check out these odd animal couples who people wouldn’t expect to get along together.
I know tis the season to be jolly, but this film is a real tear jerker. On the bright side, it shows just how special and comforting my fellow felines can be to humans. Check it out, but be sure to have your Kleenex handy.
Meow, Meow. I am very excited to once again interview winery cats. For those of you who missed my first interview with cats from the Winery at Marjim Manor, here is the link: https://wp.me/p7XcB0-9q
Today, I am honored to cat chat with the two new cats who now live at the winery. What are your names and your author’s name?
We are Lewis and Phoebe named after two of the ghosts who live in our house. They are siblings and so are we.
Whoo. Did you say ghosts, as in spooks? I’m a fraidy cat, so let’s not talk about things that go bump in the night right now. What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.
We aren’t in any books yet. Our Mom is writing a book about the history of The Winery at Marjim Manor and promised us we could be in it. We make appearances every day at the winery. Mom keeps a jar of treats near the front door. If we sit and look cute and wave our bushy tails, customers give us some.
Very mice. I love the treats that patrons sneak me at the Cobble Cove library. Of claws, they are fictional treats because I’m a cat character, but I still enjoy getting them.
Are you based on a real cat such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.
We are named for real people. Shubal Merritt built the original house for his wife, Sophia. They had three children, Lewis Phoebe, and Cordelia. They lived in this house in the 1850’s. So, we don’t know if they had any cats as pets.
Something to investigate. I like to solve murders, although my human co-stars take all the credit for that.
What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?
The role we play around here is to look cute. Right now, mom has 14 Christmas trees up. We like to run and make the tree skirts slide out from under the tree. We also like the shiny ornaments on the bottom. They make lots of noise when they fall. One tree has a lot of birds on it. Mom doesn’t like it when we take them off and play with them.
Fourteen Christmas trees? Oh, my, Bastet. That must be a big place. My author keeps a small tree in the house because her cat, Stripey, loves to knock the miniature toy soldiers off it. She also can’t keep any glass ornaments on it. Imagine what he would do to a large tree.
Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?
There are 4 older cats here. We meow at them when we want to play. They usually want to sleep. Slinky, the big gold cat, will let us lick his ears sometimes.
Sounds like fun. In my upcoming mystery, I befriend a kitten who moves into the inn (sorry about the spoiler).
What advice would you give other cat characters?
When you want a treat, sit still, then tilt your head and wave your tail. People say “aww, how cute” and give you a treat.
Purrfect advice.
Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.
We were just in a murder mystery. Mom does wine and food pairing dinners that have a murder mystery as part of it. This one was all about Superheroes. One superhero was Katerina and she could herd cats. She brought all kinds of fun toys for us: laser pointers, feather wands, fuzzy mice. We had fun playing with her.
I love murder mysteries. My author writes them, and she enjoys attending murder mystery dinners, too. Maybe we should have one at the library. I will run that by her.
Are you and/or your author on social media? If so, please list your links. We are on The Cats of Marjim Manor Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/CatsofMarjimManor/
Cool! It’s been a pleasure cat chatting with you both. Here’s a toast to my friends, Lewis and Phoebe, winery cats. Best whiskers to you and your Mom on your upcoming book.
