Hermione’s Kitty Korner #17: My Hooman’s Trip to California

Meow, there. Sorry I haven’t posted a column in a while, but after my harrowing experience in the coat rack, I needed to recover. My brother, Harry, posted about that, so I won’t repeat the awful event. You can read about it here: https://wp.me/p7XcB0-Pa

There has, however, been an update. Debbie had a flash of inspiration and covered the coat rack grills with shelf liners to make them safe for me. My topic for this column is about my hoomans’ trip to California. I knew something was up when I saw the suitcases that have been out before when they’ve gone traveling. I tried again to stowaway in one, but they wouldn’t let me.

My brother and I missed Debbie and Holly very much when they were gone, although us cats don’t always show it. Harry, however, became so desperate that he cuddled up to Mr. De Louise who was watching us. Stripey, our older “brother” didn’t like that. I stayed in the bedroom waiting for Debbie. We were both happy when she returned and investigated the suitcases in case she brought some souvenirs back to us which she did.

Debbie posted some photos on Facebook about her trip, and she may write something about it on her blog when she has time, but here are some photos that she let me post. The first is of the big flying thing that took her away from us.

While she was in a place called San Jose, she visited Mini Cat Town, a kitten rescue. I was relieved she didn’t bring one home.

Debbie and Holly also went to a place called San Francisco where Debbie donated a copy of her book, Sea Scope, to the San Francisco Library and they took a ride on a water thing that passed over what they call the Golden Gate Bridge. I wonder why it’s called that because it looks red in her photos.

One other thing they did was go to a place named Santa Cruz which had rides and games on what she called a beach boardwalk. There were quite a few seagulls flying around, so maybe we would’ve enjoyed going there with her.

Now that my hoomans are back home, things are normal again. I have a feeling they will go away again because I heard mention of a Cat Writers’ Association Conference that Debbie is planning to attend this summer. My only consolation is that they bring lots of fun cat stuff back when they go there.

Until next time, this is Hermione, meowing off.
