This week, instead of my usual Feature Friday film of cute kitties, I’m showing a video of the Cat Writers’ Association. Have you heard of this group? If you feature cats in your books, articles, poems, blogs, photographs, etc., this is the group for you. CWA will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in St. Louis, Missouri this month. My author is attending this conference and will be speaking on a panel with other cat authors including Mollie Hunt, Patricia Fry, and Sandra Murphy.
In addition to being on the panel of “Communicating, Capitalizing, and Connecting in a Fictional World,” Debbie will be selling and autographing some of our books at a book signing at the Drury Plaza Hotel St. Louis at the Arch on Saturday, May 17. This event will also feature a fundraiser by the Humane Society of Missouri and is open to everyone.
Here is a video compilation of past CWA conferences from founding member and past president, Amy Shojai. Isn’t it pawsome? Note that a younger Debbie appears in the 1999 conference slide taken in Kansas City.
I know it’s Thursday, but today is a special day, so I decided to show my Feature Friday films a day early for Remember Me Thursday. For more information about this special day, view the videos. You should also check out this website for details on how you can participate in helping my real life animal friends and the great folks at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. This day means a lot to me because I was once a stray until I was taken in by the nice people at the Cobble Cove Library. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case with my real life pet pals, but you can make difference.
Meow, there. It’s Sneaky. I am so excited to share a great video with you today and some pawsome information about a new, monthly event for my author’s readers.
First, I want to thank all those great authors who helped me, Debbie, Alicia, John, and Fido host our Cobble Cove mysteries birthday party on Facebook this week. I can’t help purring when I recall all those cats who attended as well as the human reader guests, of claws. It was one fun paw-ty.
Now for the great news. Debbie’s brilliant 7th-grade daughter came up with a purr-fect idea. All the characters from the Cobble Cove mysteries including me-ow’s truly, will host a monthly event called Cobble Cove Character Chat on the first Wednesday of each month. There will be a different character each month. That character will “chat” with anyone who visits the page that day. The character will post some information about themselves, maybe share an excerpt from a book in which they appear, and also offer a contest, freebie, or something else of interest to readers. Those who visit the CCCC event page may ask any question(s) they want of the character of that month. Doesn’t that sound as cool as catnip? Why not drop by and check out the first chat on Wednesday, December 7?
And, now, our feature film. Created by Taylor Henderson and Sara Schoen of Stolen Glances Promotions. It is a trailer for Between a Rock and a Hard Place, the second Cobble Cove mystery that was just released. If you look really close at the opening clips, you will spot Debbie’s cat, Oliver, who looks a lot like me.
To start your week off a little micer, I have some pawsome news to share. My author is sponsoring a holiday contest with a purrfect prize for her newsletter subscribers and is also hosting a Facebook paw-ty next week with other authors and some characters from her Cobble Cove mysteries including yours truly who will be making a special guest appearance. Paw down this page for fur-ther details about both these upcoming events. In Debbie’s next author newsletter around November 15, she is going to announce a holiday contest with a special prize connected with our second Cobble Cove mystery, Between a Rock and a Hard Place. The contest will run from mid-November to Mid-December. At the end of that time, she will randomly choose a winner from all her newsletter subscribers. The winner will receive the silver serenity photo locket pictured or, based on availability, a similar item. It will make a great holiday gift for yourself, a friend, or a relative (you can even add your cat’s photo inside).
If you aren’t already a subscriber to my author’s newsletter, Debbie’s Drafts, you can sign up through the pop-up form at https://debbiedelouise.com or send a request to join with your email address to her at email@example.com.
Besides this great contest, Debbie will be hosting a Facebook party with several other authors to celebrate the publishing “birthdays” of our books. The event will feature prizes, giveaways, and fun on Tuesday, November 15 and Wednesday, November 16. If you can’t join in at the times indicated on the page, you can visit afterwards to participate in anything you missed as long as the contest or giveaways are still running. I hope you have a pawsome week, and please scratch the dates of both these events on to your calendars.
