Hermione’s Kitty Korner #24: A New Cozy Mystery with a Calico Cat Star

Sorry to usurp my brother, Harry, who should’ve been posting his column but has been very lazy lately except when he zooms around after me. I’m also bumping the Feature Friday film in order to let you all know about a great new book in Debbie’s cozy mystery series. KittyKai’s Easter Mystery is now available, and the best part is that it stars a calico just like me.

I love the fact that KittyKai is on the cover of this book and plays such an important role in helping Alicia and her mistress, Gilly at the inn, solve the mystery. Sadly, the book is only in eBook form, but it’s free on Kindle Unlimited. It’s a short book that is part of the Cobble Cove short story series that now consists of 4 titles and follows the Cobble Cove mystery series with the same characters but brand new mysteries. Check them out here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QNJ4GLQ

Also, don’t miss the blog tour for KittyKai’s Easter Mystery starting on March 22.There will be reviews, interviews, and a great giveaway on Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours.

Besides helping Debbie with KittyKai’s scenes because who better than a fellow calico or should I say, lady calico, to understand another, I’ve been hanging out with Debbie’s teenage daughter since she’s been doing remote schooling this week. One thing I enjoyed was playing with Holly’s crochet yarn, although Debbie keeps taking it away from me.

I have plenty of other toys around the house that I share with my brothers Harry and Stripey. We have a toy box, and we all like to grab things out of it. Here I am with a catnip square.

Even though it’s still cold, we are having some nice, sunny days, and it’s warmer in the enclosed patio room than it is outside. I often sit out there with Holly, Debbie, and my brothers. Holly brought the office chair from her room out there, and now there are paw prints on it. I’m not saying who made them.

One fun thing I did was climb up on a box and look into Holly’s room while she was using her computer. She opened the window, and I jumped inside. I am so clever.

That’s it for my Kitty Korner column. I’ll try to nudge Harry into updating you all on his activities. In the meantime, do check out Debbie’s new book. It’s pawsome because what else can you expect from a calico cat star?

Feature Friday Film: Hear and Watch Harry, Hermione, and Stripey Speak

Hermione’s Kitty Korner #20: My New High-Rise Apartment

Hermione here with some exciting news. I have a new apartment, a high-rise. It’s very cool “litter”ally because it’s on top of Debbie’s outdoor refrigerator. My other apartment is on top of her bedroom closet.  That one is nice because it has a bed for me which is actually a basket. Both offer “meow” valous views, and I feel like I’m the top cat when I am up on them.

I have more exciting news. Debbie won three Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association for one of her short stories, her cat character’s blog, and an article about pet safety. In August, she’ll know if she’s won a Muse Medallion medal. “Purr”sonally, I don’t think it’s a great deal, although I’ve heard Debbie say that it’s quite an honor to win one. My brother Harry might enjoy it if she wears it as a necklace, though, because he likes to chew chains. You can read about that in this column, “Something to Chew on” that he posted awhile back.

That’s about it for exciting news for now. Until next time, it’s Hermione aka Miney AKA Miss Crosspaws.

Harry’s Kitty Korner Post #19: Enjoying the Outdoors from the Indoors

Meow there. It’s Harry with another tail or tale depending on how you swing. I had an interesting experience this week with my older brother, Stripey. My sis, Hermione, got involved, too, but she wasn’t as excited as we boys were. You see, Debbie and her daughter cleaned up their enclosed back room and opened it up to us. What fun! Stripey tells me he used to go out there with Oliver, a cat who was before my time. There was even a cat tree out there.

At first, when Debbie opened the door, Hermione and I were hesitant. We looked out to at Stripey who seemed to be enjoying himself.

I decided to be brave and try out the back room and that pawsome cat tree myself. I wasn’t disappointed.

So, I beckoned Hermione to join me outside.

She was cautious, but I purrsuaded her. First, she did some stretching against the cat tree and then she climbed up on top.

I found this new experience quite an adventure and continue to go out there with Stripey, but Hermione prefers the indoors for now. Maybe, once the room is completely finished, Debbie will add more items for us to climb on and play with. In the meantime, it’s nice to get some fresh air and still stay safe.

For those of you who would like your hoomans to buy or build a catio or enclosed patio room, you might want to show them the video that Sneaky posted for his Feature Friday film yesterday. https://wp.me/p7XcB0-Uy

Harry’s Kitty Korner #16: My Sis’ Scary Accident

Meow, there, it’s Harry, aka Handsome Harry, to share a harrowing experience my sister had recently. She is still too upset to talk about it. I wasn’t in the room when it happened, and Debbie questioned why it was Stripey and not I who came running when Hermione’s ear-splitting screams echoed from the coat rack. It wasn’t because I didn’t care that her paw was stuck in the grills of that place she often sits, but I was afraid that something awful was happening and stayed put in case there was danger. You may say that was cowardly of me, but cats are known for being a bit self centered. Luckily, Debbie took care of the situation with only a few scratches to show for it, and Stripey checked to make sure Hermione was safe.

Here are some pics of Hermione before the accident enjoying her favorite spot.

After the accident, Debbie covered the grills with blankets, and both Hermione and I investigated.

I hope that Hermione has learned her lesson, and I don’t think she will go back up there right away, but we cats tend to forget bad experiences because we are so curious. Paws crossed that we all stay safe and don’t get ourselves into danger again.
