Meow, there. Please introduce yourself. What is your name and your author’s name?
My name is RahRah and my author’s name is Debra H. Goldstein.
Mice to meet you. What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.
I’m debuting in One Taste Too Many. I’ve very excited because One Taste Too Many also is the first of Kensington’s new Sarah Blair cozy mystery series, so you’ll have a chance to meet me and my human, Sarah.
That sounds pawsome. I remember when I met Alicia in A Stone’s Throw, the first book of our Cobble Cove mystery series. I was so excited, and I know you must be, too.
Please give information about your series.
I’m in One Taste Too Many, Kensington’s new Sarah Blair cozy mystery series. Personally, I think they should call it the RahRah cozy mystery series because I’m such an important character in every book. I have taste, good-looks, a masterful personality, and love tuna. Sarah is recently divorced, works as a law firm receptionist, is a little unsure of herself, and is the kind of person whose good china is floral paper plates. I call her a cook of convenience because she either brings take-out in or makes recipes from pre-made ingredients. Cat to cat, I’ll let you in on a secret. if you promise not to tell. The next book in the series will be Two Bites Too Many.
MOL- Meow Out Loud. I like your ideas. The Cobble Cove Cozy mysteries should be Sneaky the Library Cat mysteries, but I can’t complain. At least I have this blog. I like your description of you MC (Main Character), too. My Alicia was a widow when our series started and a librarian. She doesn’t cook much, but there’s lots of bakers in Cobble Cove who make delicious goodies.
Are you based on a real animal such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.
My author wanted to make sure she got the details about me right, so she asked her friend, Jean, who had a beautiful Siamese cat, Suri, a million questions about things I might do or need. Jean answered every question my author could think of. She also sent Debra a picture of her cat. Sadly, before One Taste Too Many was finished, Suri passed away. In appreciation to Jean and as a lasting tribute to Suri, Debra gave me all of Suri’s physical attributes, intelligence, and playfulness. Look at the cover of One Taste Too Many, I think the Kensington artist caught my likeness perfectly.
Aww. That’s sad. The cat I was based on, Oliver, my author’s Siamese, who passed away last year.
Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.
“Bill’s dead and, uh, I’m afraid the police think I killed him.”
Sarah Blair stared at the cell phone in her hand. She could not believe the words she had just heard over it. Bill cannot be dead. He was her ex-husband, but like the cat he let her keep after their divorce, she always thought William Taft Blair had nine lives. And what did Emily mean that the police thought she had killed him? No way her twin sister could have done anything like that!
Sure, Emily wielded a cleaver with deft precision in her job as a line cook and she’d threatened Bill a few times over his treatment of Sarah during their marriage and divorce, but Sarah refused to believe Emily could or would murder anyone. …..
Feeling sick to her stomach, she sat down hard on her bed, disturbing her cat’s carefully constructed burrow in the quilt. RahRah stretched one tan paw into the air. Sarah put her hand on his back, but he squirmed away and jumped off the bed. She was tempted to follow him for a quick comforting hug. Instead, she pulled a purple sweater from the remaining pile of clothing on the floor and yanked it over her head.
“RahRah, what could possibly possess Emily to be at the police station without a lawyer? Didn’t she learn anything all those years I made her watch Perry Mason?”
RahRah blinked but didn’t purr.
“So, you agree with me. If Em isn’t a suspect, they would have taken her statement during normal business hours.”
Sarah stuffed her other foot into its shoe and made up her mind. Whether Emily wanted it or not, she wasn’t going to let her sit in jail without representation. She dug her phone from beneath the covers, glanced at the time on its face, and scrolled to her boss’s number.
Hopefully, Harlan was home, alone, and willing to help his receptionist’s sister.
Purrfect scene, and I see what you mean that you’re the main cat character. Great job, RahRah!
What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?
I like that I dominate Sarah Blair’s world. In so many books, animals are stuck into the story or shunted aside, but my author gives me the respect and dignity of being a real character.
That’s wonderful. I’m sure you’ve earned it.
Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?
I’m a real cat who meows, purrs, and makes other cat noises. Even though I don’t talk, Sarah knows exactly what I’m thinking and feeling from the sounds I make and the way I strut, shiver, take control of the situation, or cling to her.
I can relate to that. It’s the same with me.
What advice would you give other cat characters? –
Four things: 1) Always be true to yourself; 2) Be loyal to your person; 3) Let your person think he/she is making the decisions even though in reality you are; and, 4) Don’t accept less than the good food.
Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.

For culinary challenged Sarah Blair, there’s only one thing scarier than cooking from scratch—murder!
Married at eighteen, divorced at twenty‑eight, Sarah Blair reluctantly swaps her luxury lifestyle for a cramped studio apartment and a law firm receptionist job in the tired hometown she never left. With nothing much to show for the last decade but her feisty Siamese cat, RahRah, and some clumsy domestic skills, she’s the polar opposite of her bubbly twin, Emily—an ambitious chef determined to take her culinary ambitions to the top at a local gourmet restaurant . . .
Sarah knew starting over would be messy. But things fall apart completely when her ex drops dead, seemingly poisoned by Emily’s award-winning rhubarb crisp. Now, with RahRah wanted by the woman who broke up her marriage and Emily wanted by the police for murder, Sarah needs to figure out the right recipe to crack the case before time runs out. Unfortunately, for a gal whose idea of good china is floral paper plates, catching the real killer and living to tell about it could mean facing a fate worse than death—being in the kitchen!
Includes quick and easy recipes!
